As Piara Waters Lifestyle Resort rapidly becomes home to more Homeowners, it’s being discovered the Resort is helping bring a growing number of Perth families closer.

While technology has its place in helping keeping family connected, it’s simply not the same as a real-life connection, and COVID has underscored for many just how important it is to live closer to those they care about deeply.

When Bev and Veronica Isaacs retired five years ago, they were excited to move to Mandurah but, while loving the location, they felt too far away.

“We found ourselves isolated and really missed our family and friends,” they say.

“We’re so happy to be close to family again, and we’re loving the lifestyle and friendships we’ve made at the Resort.”

It’s a similar story for Joyce and Graeme Cornwill.

“Our two sons and grandkids live in Harrisdale and we were living in Dawesville, so it was an hour drive to see them,” the couple explains.

“We moved into Providence Piara Waters in September and it’s the best move we made; being able to attend our family’s sport and school functions is great.”

“We’re also able to call in regularly, as they do with us, so everyone’s very happy we made the move to be closer, including the grandies.”

Research backs up the experience of our homeowners too, with studies showing frequent contact improves the quality of a grandparent-grandchild relationship and that living geographically close to a grandparent influences contact.

Shellz and George Kerr have experienced the benefits since moving to WA from Queensland.

“We now see lots of our family and are on-hand to babysit and enjoy all the fun times with our grandkids – priceless!”

Moving from the east coast of Australia to Piara Waters after the heartbreaking loss of her sister has also been helpful for Lyn Fisher, who has family just south of Perth.”

“My son is able to call in and see me on his way home from work, and I’m able to mind my grandchildren more often, including having one stay the night here, which was very exciting,” she says.

On top of offering many homeowners the chance to embrace more family support and connection, there’s also the upside of downsizing and community living on offer at Piara Waters.

“A big perk of moving into the Resort is expanding your existing friendship base and you will have so many enjoyable activities and beautiful spaces at your fingertips,” says Resort sales manager Janine Thomas.

“It’s a win-win because not only does it potentially give you more precious time with your kids and grandkids but also provides an easy way to make new friends and boost your social life.”
