“We got everything we didn’t think we’d be able to afford again,” declare Richard and Lynne Norrish in describing their freshly downsized life and new home at Piara Waters Resort.

Having decided to leave their five-acre Stoneville property to be closer to family, the couple’s Canning Vale property search proved futile.

“Every time we looked at a house, they were a bit tired and there was no room for a caravan,” Richard reveals.

“I’d looked into the Resort years ago, but it wasn’t ready, so I suggested to Lynne we look again.

“Initially, she was worried about having neighbours much closer to us than in Stoneville but we realised that, thanks to being in a caravan club for decades, we were used to having lots of friends nearby.”

Impressed by the gated Resort’s abundant facilities, its safety and affordability, Richard and Lynne chose a three bedroom ‘Feeling Groovy’ design that would allow their three grandkids to stay over.

“Where else can we get a brand-new house, heated indoor pool and beach entry outdoor pool, and a place to park our 25-foot caravan!” explains Richard.

Lynne says: “I’m also looking forward to walking to the pool and the gym at the Clubhouse because gym memberships in the suburbs cost an arm and a leg.”

While they only arrived at the Resort in March, they’ve already cultivated many friendships.

“The people here are amazing. I put out a notice to set up a book club at the Resort and we’ve already got about eight people so far,” tells Lynne.

Richard adds: “It’s really great to be with people with similar interests and likes. It’s the change we were looking for. We’re very happy.”
