“I love my home and I love its size, it’s just perfect!” shares Mandy de Vos. “I love the location; it’s convenient for everything and there are three local parks.”

It may have taken Mandy a year to commit to buying a home at Piara Waters (it was pretty much an empty site when she first visited two years ago), but today she can’t imagine not being part of such a friendly and supportive community.

“When I was in my other house, I didn’t see anyone, but now when I go for a walk there’s always someone around to have a chat with,” she says.

“And Max, my dog, has lots of friends here too, so he loves it.”

Mandy, a teacher, opted for a two-bed- room, one-bathroom ‘Your Song’ design and uses the extra room to work out of. The 59-year-old, who is still in a full-time role, adores the connection the Resort provides, but says privacy is also easy to find.

“You can have alone time if you want or you can have social time, like our Friday night sundowners at the Lake-house or around the firepit,” she says.

“I’m planning on going part-time and then into retirement and then I’ll be able to really use the Clubhouse and work- shop and get involved in more social events and activities.”

Downsizing on her own from a large home in Leeming, the gated Resort was just what Mandy was looking for. “Security was important to me and I feel completely safe here,” she says.

“Being part of a community like Piara Waters is ideal; if you go 100m either way there are great facilities – you don’t get that on your doorstep in the suburbs!”

And Max, my dog, has lots of friends here too, so he loves it.
