“We love it, it’s the best move we’ve made – we say that all the time,” shares Joyce Cornwill.

Laughing, she explains that when her husband, Graeme, spotted an ad for the Resort on Facebook, she was very hesitant. That’s despite the fact that the couple, who was at that stage living in a four-bedroom Dawesville home, was spending hours travelling to Perth to see loved ones and attend appointments.

“I didn’t feel I was ready for it, but our family got very excited and looked through it with us and said, ‘If that’s what you want, you’d be mad if you didn’t!’ Joyce explains.

Graeme (77) and Joyce (74) are now close enough to family in Harrisdale that their grandsons can cycle to see them, and helping with ferrying them around is much simpler.

“We moved into our two-bedroom, one-bathroom Dream Catcher home in September 2022 and we’re very happy,” the pair says, adding that it’s very easy to maintain. Socially, they’ve made wonderful new friends and joined some of them on holidays, hitting the road in the caravan they keep in the Resort’s on-site caravan and boat storage area.

“We’ve been away with some couples up to Tom Price in our vans and we met up with others from the Resort in Denham and Kalbarri,” Joyce states.

When staying close to their new home, staying connected is easier than ever.

“We often use the outdoor BBQ area and you can choose if you want to socialise or not; if you feel like being social, you just go to the Lake House and there’s always someone there,” Joyce says.

“And everybody looks after everybody here. If you go away, it’s easy to get someone to look after your plants or pets and people leave meals on the doorstep if you’re not well.”

When it comes to the Resort’s forthcoming facilities, Graeme’s keen to get into the gym and play bowls, while Joyce is ready to take to the pool!
